Downloadthe32‐bitIntelProSetSoftwarefrom
theInteltothenTier700
systemdriveandinstall
it.

WhenthenTier700isrebooted
orf
ollowinga
BlueScalepackageupdate,youmaybeprompted
toinstalladriverfortherootexpander.
Failuretoinstallthedriverdoesnotaffectthe
nTier’sperformanceorusabilityinanyway.
Either:
Ignoretheprompttoinstallthedriver.
—OR—
UsetheWindowsDriverInstallerWizardto
manuallyinstallthe
SpectraExpanderdriver,
whichislocatedat
C
:\Program Files\
SpectraLogic\Drivers\Spectra Expander\
Important: Do not select the option to have
Windows look for the driver online. The correct
driver is in the above folder on the system
drive.
WhenadatadriveisremovedfromaRAID 6
volume,theseverityofthemessag epostedbythe
systemisRED,buttheRAIDtabon theOverview
screenisyellow.
UsetheRAIDtabtoconfirmthestatusofthe
drives.
EmailingASLsfromtheBlueScalewebinterface
occasionally
failswhenusingaRHEL5.5
sendmailserver.
IfyoucannotemailanASLfromtheBlueScale
webinterfaceorifthenTier700isnotconnected
toanetworkwithanSMTPserver,dothe
following:
1. ConnectaUSBdrivetothenTier700.
2. UsetheWindowsRemoteDesktopapplication
to
connecttotheWindowsOSonthenTier700.
3. LocatetheASLfileinthe
C:\Program Files (x86)\
SpectraLogic\nTier\Current\BlueScale\tmp
folderonthesystembootdrive.ASLfileshave
theformat
<Identifier>_ASL_<Date>_<Time>.asl
.
4. CopythedesiredASLfiletotheUSBdrive.
5. Attachthefiletoanemailsentfromanother
computer.
